A rare early Ola Ma Gorie Scottish sterling silver brooch featuring two entwined stylized mythical Norse creatures as depicted in ancient Viking carvings left in Scotland. Circa 1960's this piece is fully hallmarked and signed OMG (used from 1963) This piece is in fine vintage condition.
Ola Ma Gorie was born in 1937 to working class parents but was drawn to the arts and graduated in 1960 from Gray's School of the Arts. She was inspired by her native islands and their rich Norse, Pictish, Scottish & Celtic influences. Her jewelry found quick acceptance and by the end of the 1960's was popular across the U.K. Ola Ma Gorie is one of the founders of the modern craft movement in Scotland.
