The Chief CMS492P2 is a plenum rated storage box that lets you tuck small AV components above the ceiling for an uncluttered classroom, meeting room, or training space. It drops into a standard two-foot by two-foot ceiling tile, so installers can finish the job without cutting drywall or building additional enclosures.
Chief separates the power module from the main chassis, allowing an electrician to mount and wire the power in advance while the AV team handles the rest later. Once the box is in place, built-in ventilation moves air through the enclosure to help amplifiers, streaming devices, extenders, and other electronics run within their safe temperature range.
A dual gang housing inside the unit delivers multi-stage surge protection that filters high-frequency noise and absorbs power spikes without destroying itself. This means the safeguards stay in place after an event, giving long-term protection to projectors, displays, network switches, and control processors.
The internal tray accepts a variety of AV brackets and accessories, and the steel structure carries up to 100 pounds in total. Multiple conduit knockouts speed cable entry, while a lightweight frame supports one-person installation. The box is UL evaluated for use in air-handling spaces and meets TAA requirements for government or institutional projects.
Integrators often choose the CMS492P2 when a projector, flat panel, or interactive display needs local sources or receivers nearby but out of sight. It is equally useful when retrofitting legacy rooms, because the ceiling grid usually provides the simplest way to add equipment without revising wall cabinetry or furniture.
