US War and Navy Departments 1943 pamphlets: “Language Guide to North Africa” and “Pocket Guide to North Africa” for American Army and Navy personnel who were stationed in the North African theater of World War 2 against Germany and Italy.

The “Language Guide” is 113 pages, much of it a pocket dictionary of useful words. The “Pocket Guide” is 44 pages explaining customs and culture of North Africa to the US Soldiers and Sailors.

For example, bottom of page 8:
“Many of the tribesmen are now first class guerilla fighters, as ready to fight for their families or villages as for their tribe. Confronted by a common danger, the tribes might even join forces, or rally to a call to fight for Islam. But the alliance would probably dissolve as quickly as the fight was over, since there is no national unifying force among the tribes. This fact has been of main assistance to penetration by European powers.”

Excellent vintage condition, see pictures. These are 80 years old!
